This Privacy Policy discloses the privacy practices of The Children’s Institute of Pittsburgh (“The Children’s Institute”) for the www.amazingkidslearning.org (the “Site”). By visiting the Site, you are accepting the practices described in this Privacy Policy. This Privacy Policy applies solely to information collected by this Site. It will notify you of the following:
- What personally identifiable information is collected from you through the Site, how it is used and with whom it may be shared.
- What choices are available to you regarding the use of your data.
- The security procedures in place to protect the misuse of your information.

Information Collection, Use, and Sharing
When you visit the Site, we may ask for your name, address, telephone number, email address and, in certain cases, payment information. Such information will only be used in accordance with this Privacy Policy. We receive and store any information you enter on the Site or give us in any other way. You can choose not to provide certain information, but then you might not be able to take advantage of features of the Site. We may use such information to notify you of upcoming online learning courses that may be available.
We are the sole owners of the information collected on this Site. We only have access to/collect information that you voluntarily give us via email, completed online forms on the Site or other direct contact from you. We will not sell or rent this information to anyone.
We will use your information to respond to you regarding the reason you contacted us. In addition we will use the information to provide you with updates about our programs and services and online learning courses that are available and may be of interest to you. You may opt out of receiving such updates at any time. We may also use your contact information to ask you to participate in surveys and other internal marketing activities that help us to provide better services to our customers and clients. We will not share your information with any third party outside of our organization, other than as necessary to fulfill your request. We employ other companies and individuals to perform certain functions on our behalf, including processing credit card and other electronic payments. They have access to personal information needed to perform their functions, but may not use it for other purposes.
If you purchase a course on the Site, we do not store your credit card information nor do we have access to your credit card number. All credit card data is processed by a PCI-compliant third party payment processor.
Unless you ask us not to, we may contact you via email in the future to tell you about new developments or services, or changes to this Privacy Policy.
We release personal information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with the law or protect the rights, property, or safety of The Children’s Institute, our Site’s users, or others. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organizations for fraud protection and credit risk reduction. Obviously, however, this does not include selling, renting, sharing, or otherwise disclosing personally identifiable information from clients or donors for commercial purposes in violation of the commitments set forth in this Privacy Notice.

We place a high priority on protecting information transmitted on our web site, and always use industry-standard encryption technologies when transferring and receiving consumer data exchanged with our site. We have appropriate security measures in place in our physical facilities to protect against the loss, misuse or alteration of information that we have collected from you at our site. We cannot guarantee that any electronic commerce is totally secure, but do exercise prudent measures to protect and secure consumer information.

Protecting privacy is a shared responsibility. Users of the Site are responsible for protecting the privacy of their passwords and ensuring that their accounts are not being misused or accessed by unauthorized persons. If a user suspects their account password is compromised, they should change it immediately

This Privacy Policy applies solely to information collected by our Site. In an attempt to provide you with increased value, we may include third-party links on our Site. These linked sites have separate and independent privacy policies. We therefore have no responsibility or liability for the content and activities of these linked sites. Nonetheless, we seek to protect the integrity of our Site and welcome any feedback about these linked sites (including if a specific link does not work).
We Do Not Provide Medical Advice On This Site.
Any personal information you provide to us in comment fields or by email (e.g.., when you ask questions about our services) will also be collected. The informational content and comments fields available on the Site are for obtaining general information and educational purposes only. The content and services offered on this Site are not intended to provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. This Site is not a substitute for obtaining professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Please do not provide any patient health information in the comments fields in the Site. If you choose to do so, any such information does not constitute patient Protected Health Information, as that term is defined by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996, and its implementing regulations (“ HIPAA” ) and will not be subject to the privacy and security protections under HIPAA.
Online Policy Only:
This Privacy Policy applies only to information collected through our Site and not to information collected by us offline.
Children’s Privacy Protection:
The Site is a general audience website for those interested in the provision of family-centered care and coordination of services for children and youth with special needs and for any child needing rehabilitation services and is not geared specifically toward children. In order to protect children’s personally identifiable information and to meet the standards of the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”), we do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13 that can be used to specifically identify them and we do not permit persons under the age of 13 to use the Site. When users register to use the Site, we may ask for birth date information. By using the Site you represent that you are not under the age of thirteen (13). This information helps us ensure that children do not provide us with their personal information. Parents or legal guardians may not agree to the Terms of Use, this Privacy Policy, or the disclosure of such child’s Personal Information on such child’s behalf. If a parent or guardian is made aware that a child under the age of 13 has provided us with personally identifiable information we ask to be contacted via phone 412-420-2193, e-mail nbu@the-institute.org to make us aware and we will delete the information about the child referenced from our files.

Your California Privacy Rights:
Under California’s “Shine the Light” law, California residents who provide personal information in obtaining products or services for personal, family or household use are entitled to request and obtain from us, once per calendar year, information about the customer information we shared, if any, with other businesses for their own direct marketing uses. If applicable, this information would include the categories of customer information and the names and addresses of those businesses with which we shared customer information for the immediately prior calendar year (e.g. requests made in 2016 will receive information regarding 2015 sharing activities).
To obtain this information from us, please send an e-mail message to nbu@the-institute.org with “Request for California Privacy Information” on the subject line and in the body of your message. We will provide the requested information to you at your e-mail address in response. Not all information sharing is covered by the “Shine the Light” requirements and only information on covered sharing will be included in our response.
The Site does not respond to “do not track” requests.
